PortXchange, a leading digital innovator in maritime solutions, has announced the launch of its enhanced emissions tracking and analysis platform, the EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite. This new version is set to establish new global standards for real-time emissions reporting, effectively disrupting the traditional, fragmented, and costly approach to port environmental monitoring.
The enhanced suite is designed to transform the way ports tackle decarbonization, which is increasingly vital as the maritime sector faces heightened regulatory scrutiny and climate pressure. Building on the success of the original EmissionInsider, already deployed at major hubs like Houston and Rotterdam, the Carbon Insight Suite offers significant new functionalities that cater to evolving industry demands.

From Static Reports to Real-Time Action
The most significant advancement of the new platform is its shift from static, consultant-led reporting to real-time monitoring and analysis available at the click of a button.
Sjoerd de Jager, CEO of PortXchange, emphasized the need for a unified approach “Ports have long operated in isolation, with fragmented data collection practices hampering progress. EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite is more than just a tool; it represents a crucial step towards establishing a unified global standard for port emissions reporting, similar to standards already in place in other industries. Our goal is to enhance transparency and encourage greater collaboration.”
The ability to access data instantly allows port authorities to rapidly assess the impact of new green initiatives, such as new shore power investments or optimized vessel traffic management, enabling immediate strategic adaptation.
Enhanced Features and User Integration
The EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite introduces several new features designed for broader port authority engagement and complex analysis:
- Customizable Dashboard: Ports can now integrate bespoke modules tailored to their specific data and regulatory needs.
- Unlimited User Access: The dashboard supports an unlimited number of users, ensuring data literacy and engagement across the entire port authority team.
- Executive Reporting: Enhanced features provide C-suite executives with a clear, concise snapshot of the port’s emissions footprint for any specified period.
- Port Emissions Report: The platform now offers in-depth emissions analysis for comprehensive internal and external reporting needs.
Abhishek Nair, Director of Business Development, noted the focus on user experience: “With advanced data visualization and analytical capabilities, it helps ports pinpoint emission hotspots and evaluate decarbonization strategies with greater precision, enhancing both the user experience and the platform’s contribution to sustainability.”
Compliance and Global Vision
While the current launch focuses primarily on vessel emissions, PortXchange has confirmed future updates will extend coverage to all transport modalities within a port, including trucks, rail, and cargo handling equipment. The platform adheres to strict regulatory requirements, including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and uses established calculation methodologies like the EPA’s MOVES4 (for the US) and TNO (for Europe).
Implementation of the new suite is expected to take between 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the number of modalities being integrated.
Sjoerd de Jager concluded: “The launch of EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite significantly enhances ports’ ability to benchmark their performance against others. We see this as crucial for the entire port sector and are actively advocating for a global reporting standard to enable ports to share best practices and learn from one another.”
