Southampton, United Kingdom | December 15, 2025 – Ocean Infinity has successfully reached a significant operational milestone today, with the delivery of the final vessel in its ambitious fourteen-vessel Armada fleet. This achievement closes a five-year chapter, which began in 2020, to redefine and transform offshore operations through robotics and technology.
The completion of the fleet marks the successful delivery of the final ship in the larger 86-metre class of Armada vessels. This follows the successful deployment of the smaller 78-metre class starting in 2023. Currently, twelve of the fourteen cutting-edge, lean-crewed vessels are in live operation globally, with the remaining two following close behind.

Transforming Operations at Sea
The Armada fleet is unlike anything seen in the industry, representing a fundamental shift in how complex offshore work is executed. The fleet directly addresses Ocean Infinity’s core purpose: using innovative technology for a safer and more sustainable marine environment.
Key to the vessels’ transformative capabilities are:
- Lean-Crewed Design: Inherently smaller than conventional offshore counterparts, the vessels significantly reduce the number of people required offshore, leading to safer operations.
- Onshore Control: Each vessel is fully integrated into Ocean Infinity’s onshore control centres, allowing for live monitoring and remote control of robotic sub-systems.
- Sustainability Gains: The smaller, more efficient design results in drastically reduced fuel consumption compared to traditional vessels, cutting down on emissions and driving more sustainable work practices.
The vessels are highly versatile, mobilized with a tailored suite of advanced underwater robotic systems. This capability allows them to execute a wide range of data collection tasks, from geophysical surveys to geotechnical investigations, supporting complex offshore projects across the globe, from the United States to the Asia Pacific.
Ambition Made Reality
Oliver Plunkett, Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Infinity, celebrated the achievement:
“Completing the Armada 86-metre class marks an extraordinary moment, five years ago we said we’d build a fleet of fourteen ships, designed unconventionally because speed to capability mattered, and we’ve done it, despite the many challenges along the way. What started out as a bold ambition is now a reality. These vessels are not a concept or an R&D project – they are operating today, transforming the way offshore work is done by focusing on software and technology first. We owe a huge debt of thanks to everyone involved!”
With the full fleet now delivered and onshore control centres continuously advancing, Ocean Infinity is poised to unlock new possibilities, reinforcing its position as a leader in marine robotics and technology.
