MM Marine Inc Green Ship Award

Singapore | October 31, 2025 – In a significant boost to the maritime industry’s decarbonization efforts, MM Marine Inc., in collaboration with its parent company Minerva Bunkering, has been officially recognized for its commitment to environmental stewardship. The companies were named recipients of the prestigious Green Ship Award 2025 during the Singapore Registered Ships (SRS) Forum.

The award, presented by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), highlights the industry-leading performance of two specific vessels in MM Marine’s fleet: the Amalthea and the Titania.

Leading the Charge in Sustainable Bunkering

The recognition of the Amalthea and Titania is a direct result of their advanced technical specifications designed to minimize environmental impact.

  • The Amalthea: Recently deployed to support Minerva’s operations in the critical Singapore market, the Amalthea is an 8,000 dwt LNG dual-fuel bunker tanker. Powered by twin Yanmar LNG dual-fuel engines, the vessel significantly reduces sulfur oxides SOx, nitrogen oxides NOx, and particulate matter compared to traditional fuel-only vessels.
  • Operational Excellence: Both vessels represent a new generation of bunkering infrastructure, integrating high-specification technology to ensure safety and efficiency while meeting the rigorous “Green Ship” criteria set by the MPA.

The Green Ship Award is a component of the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative. To qualify, a vessel must exceed the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 requirements by 10% or more, or adopt engines capable of running on low-carbon fuels.

A Strategic Milestone for MM Marine and Minerva Bunkering

MM Marine operates one of the world’s most modern and technologically advanced fleets of tankers, ranging from small inland barges to large Suezmax vessels. As a subsidiary of Minerva Bunkering, itself a part of the global Mercuria Energy Group, MM Marine is positioned at the forefront of the global energy transition.

Achieving this honor reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence in the maritime sector,” the company stated. “We’re proud to play our part in building a greener, more responsible future for global shipping.”

Minerva Bunkering’s CEO, Tyler Baron, has previously emphasized the importance of high-specification tankers like the Amalthea in providing cleaner, more efficient bunkering services in the world’s busiest ports.

The SRS Forum serves as a vital platform for the MPA to champion sustainability and safety within the Singapore Registry of Ships, which remains one of the largest and youngest registries globally. By incentivizing the adoption of green technology through awards and fee concessions, Singapore continues to lead the way toward the IMO’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
