Kevin Wong (Wong Kar Weng) as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO).   2. Low-Carbon Fuel Development: Leading the strategic development of alternative, low-carbon marine fuels. This is a core component of Golden Island’s roadmap to remain competitive in a “green” shipping corridor.

Golden Island: A Legacy of Market-Leading Adoption

Founded in 1982, Golden Island has a history of pioneering fuel transitions in the world’s largest bunkering port. The company was the first supplier in Singapore to offer Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO 0.5%) in 2019 ahead of the IMO 2020 deadline. the firm is setting the pace for the low-carbon transition, ensuring the safe, compliant, and scalable supply of methanol alongside conventional and biofuel products.

Key Milestones & Roadmap to Net-Zero

Golden Island has positioned itself as a “first mover” in Singapore’s green bunkering landscape. Below are the key milestones that highlight the company’s recent achievements:

  • Licensed Methanol Supplier): Golden Island is one of only three companies awarded a five-year methanol bunkering license by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The company was selected from 13 applicants based on its supply chain reliability and safety systems.
  • Successful B100 Deliveries to Maersk: In late 2025, Golden Island successfully delivered its first and second B100 biofuel bunkers (100% UCOME) to the Estelle Maersk and Maersk Amazon in Singapore, utilizing the chemical tanker Golden Sirius.
  • Strategic Fleet Expansion: The company has committed to a specialized fleet of four IMO Type II chemical tankers, Golden Antares, Golden Sirius, Golden Centaurus, and Golden Carina, all expected to be operational for low-carbon fuel delivery by Q1 2026.
  • Arrival of “Golden Antares”: In August 2025, the Golden Antares arrived in Singapore, marking the first time the company loaded 5,000 metric tonnes of ISCC-certified green methanol for Mass Flow Meter (MFM) acceptance testing and port formalities.
  • Digital Transformation: Golden Island has pioneered the transition to e-BDN (electronic Bunker Delivery Notes) in Singapore, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the bunkering process.
