Navigating a Complex Global Landscape
The 2024–25 fiscal year presented unique challenges for the maritime and bunkering industries. Key pressures included the intensification of the US-China trade conflict, continued disruptions in the Red Sea and Suez Canal, and the first full-year implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) for maritime shipping. Added to this were rising compliance demands from the IMO’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) and growing interest in decarbonized fuel options.
In this complex regulatory and geopolitical environment, Glander International Bunkering stayed close to its clients, offering expert guidance, flexible energy solutions, and expanded compliance tools.
“In a time of transformation, our approach has been clear: stay agile, support our clients, and prepare for what’s next,” said Carsten Ladekjær, CEO of Glander International Bunkering. “We reinforced our commitment to reliable service in conventional fuels while accelerating our transition to sustainable energy offerings.”
Expanding Alternative Fuel Capabilities
Among its most notable achievements this fiscal year, Glander International Bunkering completed a series of bioLNG deliveries, significantly expanded its biofuel supply chain, and introduced a FuelEU Maritime Compliance Calculator, empowering clients to track and optimize emissions performance under new EU rules.
In measurable terms, the company recorded a 71% year-over-year increase in biofuel volumes and an 85% increase in LNG sales, a clear indication of growing demand and operational readiness in the low-carbon space. Additionally, Glander facilitated the sale of nearly 100,000 EU Allowances (EUAs), deepening its expertise in carbon market services and emissions trading.
Building Trust Through Certification and Recognition
In 2024–25, Glander International Bunkering renewed its ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) credentials, further solidifying its role as a trusted supplier of sustainable marine fuels. The company also became a member of the Smart Freight Centre, contributing to the broader decarbonization of freight transport through collaborative innovation.
Continuing its commitment to workplace excellence, Glander was certified as a Great Place to Work® for the seventh consecutive year, reinforcing its employee-first culture and strong global team cohesion.
Looking Ahead: Consistency Through Change
Reflecting on the year and looking forward, Ladekjær emphasized the company’s core philosophy of adaptability and client-focused evolution.
“Since 1961, we’ve adapted to change without losing sight of what matters—our clients, our people, and our values. As we enter the next chapter shaped by decarbonization, digital regulation, and geopolitical flux, we remain committed to delivering what shipowners need to succeed.”
With a proven track record and clear momentum in alternative fuels, compliance advisory, and global reach, Glander International Bunkering is well-positioned to navigate the complexities of the modern bunkering market.
