Hong Kong, China | January 07, 2026 – In a landmark move for the regional maritime sector, Chimbusco Pan Nation (CPN) has officially launched its B100 marine biodiesel supply service. This development is anchored by the successful technical upgrade of the bunker tanker Guo Si, which now stands as Hong Kong’s first Type II-certified vessel dedicated to 100% biofuel operations.
The move significantly accelerates the port’s transition toward renewable energy, providing a high-concentration carbon reduction solution for global shipping lines calling at the South China hub.

A Strategic Leap in Decarbonization
The introduction of B100 follows CPN’s initial foray into the biofuel market in April 2025, when the company began offering B30 blends. By moving to B100, CPN is addressing the increasing demand for “drop-in” fuels that can drastically lower the carbon intensity of maritime voyages without requiring extensive engine modifications.
Technical Excellence: The Guo Si Upgrade
Handling pure biodiesel (B100) requires specialized infrastructure to maintain fuel stability and meet stringent safety protocols. The Guo Si underwent a comprehensive technical overhaul to achieve its new status:
- Regulatory Compliance: The upgrade was executed in strict adherence to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) IBC Code and Hong Kong Cap. 413E regulations.
- Type II Certification: This specific certification ensures the tanker is equipped to handle the chemical properties of high-concentration biofuels, providing “regulatory certainty” for shipowners.
- Regional Monopoly: Currently, the Guo Si is the only vessel in the region certified for B100 supply, giving CPN a unique competitive edge in the green bunker market.
Impact on the Maritime Industry
By establishing a dedicated supply chain for B100, CPN is removing one of the primary hurdles to biofuel adoption: infrastructure reliability. Shipowners can now plan for 100% biofuel stems in Hong Kong with the assurance that the delivery vessel meets international safety and quality standards.
“This development represents a key step forward in CPN’s decarbonization roadmap, CPN has established the specialized infrastructure required for the safe, reliable, and compliant handling of pure marine biofuels.” CPN said
This launch reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a leading green bunkering hub in Asia, aligning with global efforts to meet the IMO’s 2030 and 2050 GHG reduction targets. For more information, CPN’s Alternative Fuels Team can be reached via CPN website.
